 Turkish fairy floss (Pismaniye) was invented and manufactured by a candy maker for the first time in Kandıra County of Kocaeli City while manufacturing was continued by an Armenian named Hacı Agop, who was one of the shopkeepers of Kandıra County. In 1919, İbrahim Çınar from Izmit learnt how to produce Turkish fairy floss and continued manufacturing in Izmit. Turkish fairy floss manufacturing was developed rapidly over the years in Izmit and Lütfü Canıgeniş, who was working for Patir candy maker as a chef at that time, established İpek Turkish fairy floss maker in 1954 laying a foundation for today.
